Benefits of Merino Wool
Moisture Wicking
Merino wool is the best fiber to regulate moisture. It does this by absorbing sweat from your skin and releasing it into the air. Whether you're hiking, running, biking, on the job, or just relaxing at home, our wool helps keep you dry and comfortable all day long.
Soft & Comfortable
Merino wool fibers are much finer than traditional wool, creating a luxuriously soft feel that won’t itch or irritate your skin. Comfortable enough for everyday wear and gentle enough for sensitive skin, it’s a natural choice for underwear, base layers and next-to-skin comfort.
Highly Breathable
Merino wool’s unique structure allows air to circulate freely, helping to regulate your body temperature in both hot and cold weather conditions. Whether you're layering up for winter or staying cool in summer, Merino keeps you comfortable by letting your skin breathe.
Anti-Microbial
Merino wool naturally resists odor-causing bacteria, keeping you fresher for longer. No lingering smells, even after extended wear. Perfect for travel, outdoor adventures, and everyday life.
Insulates When Wet
Merino wool can hold up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy against the skin. Unlike cotton or synthetic fabrics, it keeps insulating when damp, making it a smart choice for unpredictable weather and high-output activity.
Fire Resistant
Merino wool is naturally fire-resistant and self-extinguishing. It will not melt or stick to your skin like synthetic fabrics. A trusted option for first responders, campfire safety, or any high-heat environment.
UV Protection
Our Merino wool clothing helps protect you from the sun’s harmful rays, with different levels of UPF based on fabric weight:
-
Microweight (145 GSM): UPF 20
-
Lightweight (170 GSM): UPF 25
-
Midweight (245 GSM): UPF 50+
-
Heavyweight (400 GSM): UPF 50+
These natural UV-blocking properties make Merino wool ideal for long days or the beach or above treeline.
Renewable and Sustainable
Merino wool is a natural, biodegradable fiber with a low environmental footprint. Grown by Australian Merino sheep and shorn seasonally, it is a renewable material that supports responsible farming practices.

Sock and over the calf have very nice material and feel great. I gave them a 3 star should even be less. I only wore them 2/ 10 hour days but I see signs of wearing and white coming out of the grey toe area. Looks like a hole is starting. This is on both socks. Now at the same time I bought 2 different Military brands of socks with similar or equal wool content and have no trouble or wear signs on them. So I know it’s not me or my boots. There is a 5 year warranty on these socks I’ll be lucky to get the rest of the winter out of these. Maybe they are not for use in Military Belleville Khyber boots. I really like the sock other than the EARLY signs of wear. I am new this season to wearing a higher contend and quality wool sock. Thus trying different brands.
The only sock that stays in place over the calf, that's why I bought two more pairs
Steve, we are so glad to hear that our Midweight - Over the Calf Socks Mountain Heritage are the only ones that stay in place for you. That's what we strive for! Thank you for your continued support and for purchasing two more pairs. We appreciate your feedback and are here to help with any future sock needs. Happy adventuring!
I bought 2 pairs of Microweight, 1 pair Lightweight, 1 pair Midweight and 1 pair Heavyweight and all of them Over the Calf sock. All of them fit great with the Microweight (sock liners) reaching a bit higher on my leg, which is exactly what I was looking for. I have had them for about 2 weeks now and they are staying up all day. I am very excited to see how well and how long they last.

Minus33 Team
I start with a minus33 liner sock then I use the midweight sock over the liner. I wear them on a daily hike with good boots in the snow with temps as low as 0°F they keep my feet warm as long as I keep moving. These socks are very well made, I’ve had a pair of expedition weight socks for ice fishing those are still like new after three years of use, they’re good for standing around in the cold.
