Benefits of Merino Wool
Moisture Wicking
Merino wool is the best fiber to regulate moisture. It does this by absorbing sweat from your skin and releasing it into the air. Whether you're hiking, running, biking, on the job, or just relaxing at home, our wool helps keep you dry and comfortable all day long.
Soft & Comfortable
Merino wool fibers are much finer than traditional wool, creating a luxuriously soft feel that won’t itch or irritate your skin. Comfortable enough for everyday wear and gentle enough for sensitive skin, it’s a natural choice for underwear, base layers and next-to-skin comfort.
Highly Breathable
Merino wool’s unique structure allows air to circulate freely, helping to regulate your body temperature in both hot and cold weather conditions. Whether you're layering up for winter or staying cool in summer, Merino keeps you comfortable by letting your skin breathe.
Anti-Microbial
Merino wool naturally resists odor-causing bacteria, keeping you fresher for longer. No lingering smells, even after extended wear. Perfect for travel, outdoor adventures, and everyday life.
Insulates When Wet
Merino wool can hold up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy against the skin. Unlike cotton or synthetic fabrics, it keeps insulating when damp, making it a smart choice for unpredictable weather and high-output activity.
Fire Resistant
Merino wool is naturally fire-resistant and self-extinguishing. It will not melt or stick to your skin like synthetic fabrics. A trusted option for first responders, campfire safety, or any high-heat environment.
UV Protection
Our Merino wool clothing helps protect you from the sun’s harmful rays, with different levels of UPF based on fabric weight:
-
Microweight (145 GSM): UPF 20
-
Lightweight (170 GSM): UPF 25
-
Midweight (245 GSM): UPF 50+
-
Heavyweight (400 GSM): UPF 50+
These natural UV-blocking properties make Merino wool ideal for long days or the beach or above treeline.
Renewable and Sustainable
Merino wool is a natural, biodegradable fiber with a low environmental footprint. Grown by Australian Merino sheep and shorn seasonally, it is a renewable material that supports responsible farming practices.

I was a bit skeptical of wool socks, but these are incredible. Light weight and breathable while still keeping my feet warm. I wear them everyday to work now.
I own quite a few pair of the OTC lightweight socks and they are amazing and holding up great. I decided to try these micro-weight as I was due for some more biking socks. So far so good. I am glad they are US made... hopefully you folks can start making more products in NH! Keep up the good work.

My husband who is diabetic and has neuropathy in his feet was having issues wearing regular socks. The seam at the toe was causing him a lot of discomfort. He LOVES these socks. He no long has trouble with his toes with the socks. He wears for work (works in a storeroom so on foot a lot), playing golf, and just general use.

Great sock. It could be even thinner around the toes but otherwise perfect.
Over the past few mountain bike seasons I've come to only wear merino socks. I have lots of different brands at this point and these are at the top of my list. They are comfortable, thin enough to not be too hot and they don't roll down.

I was looking for a thin wool socks. These fit the bill. Purchased an apr and then purchased 4 more. So far so good. I'm looking at the longevity of the socks in addition to quality, comfort, fit, etc. These are really nice so far.

Got my wife three pair of the Mountain Heritage crew wool socks for Christmas this year. HE SHOOTS! HE SCORES! She absolutely loves them AND now won't be "borrowing" mine. Great apparel. I wear the Algonquin lightweight top when hunting and as a nightshirt, as it gets a little chilly upstairs in this 100-year-old house! Sizing is spot on. Can't say enough good about Minus33!
M.D Johnson,
Thank you so much for your review! We are thrilled to hear that your wife loves the Mountain Heritage crew wool socks as much as you! We hope they keep her warm and comfortable and hopefully, out of your sock drawer!
Thank you for your continued support of Minus33.

These socks fit true to size, minimal stitching to cause any rubbing, minimal socks which I personally enjoy. Thin material helped on hot days with sweaty feet and didn’t hold water on the wet days. Had them for a month and about 50 miles. They aren’t showing any wear yet.
Thanks for taking the time to leave us a great review! We're glad you're enjoying the socks!
I bought the liner - crew Mountain Heritage socks and they are excellent! The fit is perfect and they are very high quality. They blow Darn Tough out of the water on fit and comfort...not even a comparison. So happy I found this company!!!!
