Benefits of Merino Wool
Moisture Wicking
Merino wool is the best fiber to regulate moisture. It does this by absorbing sweat from your skin and releasing it into the air. Whether you're hiking, running, biking, on the job, or just relaxing at home, our wool helps keep you dry and comfortable all day long.
Soft & Comfortable
Merino wool fibers are much finer than traditional wool, creating a luxuriously soft feel that won’t itch or irritate your skin. Comfortable enough for everyday wear and gentle enough for sensitive skin, it’s a natural choice for underwear, base layers and next-to-skin comfort.
Highly Breathable
Merino wool’s unique structure allows air to circulate freely, helping to regulate your body temperature in both hot and cold weather conditions. Whether you're layering up for winter or staying cool in summer, Merino keeps you comfortable by letting your skin breathe.
Anti-Microbial
Merino wool naturally resists odor-causing bacteria, keeping you fresher for longer. No lingering smells, even after extended wear. Perfect for travel, outdoor adventures, and everyday life.
Insulates When Wet
Merino wool can hold up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy against the skin. Unlike cotton or synthetic fabrics, it keeps insulating when damp, making it a smart choice for unpredictable weather and high-output activity.
Fire Resistant
Merino wool is naturally fire-resistant and self-extinguishing. It will not melt or stick to your skin like synthetic fabrics. A trusted option for first responders, campfire safety, or any high-heat environment.
UV Protection
Our Merino wool clothing helps protect you from the sun’s harmful rays, with different levels of UPF based on fabric weight:
-
Microweight (145 GSM): UPF 20
-
Lightweight (170 GSM): UPF 25
-
Midweight (245 GSM): UPF 50+
-
Heavyweight (400 GSM): UPF 50+
These natural UV-blocking properties make Merino wool ideal for long days or the beach or above treeline.
Renewable and Sustainable
Merino wool is a natural, biodegradable fiber with a low environmental footprint. Grown by Australian Merino sheep and shorn seasonally, it is a renewable material that supports responsible farming practices.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I've been wearing the Minus33 Mountain Heritage Lightweight Boot Wool Socks for work, and they've become my go-to sock. I work long shifts—often 14+ hours on my feet in Georgia's heat, humidity, rain, and cold—and these socks have performed exceptionally well.
The lightweight merino wool keeps my feet noticeably drier and more comfortable than cotton socks, especially during long days in duty boots. They breathe well in hot weather, help prevent that "swamp foot" feeling, and do a great job controlling odor. Even after a long shift, my feet feel better than they do in most synthetic or cotton socks I've tried.
They're comfortable without being bulky, fit well in my boots, and have held up well to regular use. I've been impressed enough with these socks that I've started using other Minus33 products as well, and I've been equally happy with them.
If you spend long hours on your feet, work outdoors, or wear boots every day, I highly recommend giving these socks a try.
Disappointed. For lightweight socks they are very thick.
These socks are awesome! Thick enough to keep me warm in these record breaking icy lows. Comfortable in shoes - thicker than I expected, but fit well into shoes, and don’t bind off my legs. Will definitely be investing in these socks. Well worth the price
Excellent quality
I had no clue this company was in NH or existed until I did a search. I wanted to patronized a local business so I did and thankful I did! Wonderful product, love all the socks and other items I bought. They are so soft and comfortable, moisture wicking.. wonderful stuff! Thank you so much for make a quality product and in New Hampshire, USA Bravo!
They may not have the fancy designs of their competition, but they are by far so much more comfortable. These are now the socks I reach for vs. my other merino wool. Great job minus 33!
My son loves them!! They were perfect -- he's a huge outdoorsmen!
My go-to socks for daily wear. Padded, warm and breathable. Great for hiking too
Best socks ever!!

Well constructed and warm breathable socks! Very good quality!
Good socks!
The boot socks run tight and short. In my opinion, boot socks should come to the top of your calf but these only came up to the bottom of my calf. The hats, shirts, gloves, & neck gaiters fit nice. Just not the socks for me.
Hi Michael, thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate you taking the time to talk with Steven on the phone about the socks. I am so glad everything else fit great! We here at Minus33 strive to get you into one of our products that you will be completely comfortable in.

Great sock
Hi Maury,
Thank you for your positive feedback on our Lightweight - Boot Wool Socks Mountain Heritage! We're glad to hear that you're enjoying them. Happy adventuring!
These are by far the best, softest wool socks I own. Could be just a skosh taller, up the calf, plenty warm for the “cold” California winters. Would recommend.
The socks are amazing. They have become my favorite!
I live in TX and I'm outside a lot for work. I love these socks. I wear them in the summers in 105+ degree heat and I'm wearing them right now while it's 15 degrees. They are my go-to sock. These are some excellent merino wool socks and, for the price point, they beat their competitors.

USPS delivered my package with 1 pair of socks and 2 other items. Put the new socks on after opening the package. (size L / I wear a men's 9, womens 10.5 so sizing is accurate , for me). If you find that the top of a sock is too tight/binding on the calf, I find that turning the top down to make a cuff can sometimes relieve the pressure.
I like these socks enough that I have placed another order of mainly socks, and one other item that ran a bit small. Now I can put off repairing my other wool socks that need a little TLC.
I'm still looking for socks that I can wear all day, but not have that fierce constriction around my leg at the top of the socks that gives me an indented ditch in my leg with puffiness above it. Not comfortable, nor does it seem particularly healthy. Way too similar to those tough ones from somewhere else in New England.
However, I like these socks well enough that I will search the inventory for a model with looser tops. At 5'2", 115 lbs, I'm thin enough and fit enough that I think it is reasonable to expect socks to stay up without making like a rope noose.
C.R,,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear that you have not yet found the perfect socks for your needs. We understand your concern about the constriction around the leg and we will definitely take this into consideration for future designs.

These are by far my favorite socks I’ve ever worn. I live in Florida and even with the heat here, these do great. They are super comfortable and breathable and match well with hiking or combat boots. I currently have 3 pairs and will most likely have twice as many soon.

Jeannie T.
I ordered the largest pair and for me they were a little small, and after washing they shrunk. I still wear them sometimes but very tight for my size 13 feet.
