Almost as good as SmartWool PhD socks, IMHO

These are as close to my favorite SmartWool PhD socks as I have ever found, after trying many others. The PhD socks do have more elastic in the arch, which helps the socks stay in place and not shift around on my food while hiking, though.I will upload a few pictures of the product info these came with.But that’s JustMe. (I received this product in exchange for an honest review, and that is what I have offered here.)

Ultimate thin wool socks for mountain biking in slight cold weather

I've been mountain biking for over 20 years and have literally tried about every possible type of socks that is out there. I've found merino wool to be the best for drying fast, providing warmth, but also if the merino wool socks are thin they perform quite well in warmer weather as well.The main issue with most wool socks is they are far to thick to fit into most mountain biking shoes. Mountain biking shoes tend to fit pretty close to the foot not allowing much room for thick socks. I really love these socks made by Minus33. They are quite thin which makes them fit perfectly in my cycling shoes.I've worn them several times now in wet, muddy and cold conditions and they kept my feet warm in dry in all cases. The temperate on those days was right around 40F degrees and my feet never got cold. Based on my past experience with merino wool socks, I would say these would be perfect in temperatures ranging from about 25F to about 70F where your feet would stay warm but not overly hot in those warmer temps. This would somewhat depend on the type of shoes you are wearing as well.From a budget standpoint they are about what you normally would pay for merino wool socks of this quality.

Lightweight and amazing!

I have a number of Minus 33 clothing items and their socks might be my favorites. They are made in the USA, supportive, and made with high end Merino wool which means they are warm but breathable. These socks are lightweight and are simply amazing! Recommend highly.

SIZING // Made in the USA!

Update (12/9/21): Ordered size Medium, but on the first fit, feels more like a Small or X-Small. Order up a size or two!Summary: Been using Thorlos for years, mainly the micro crew (or which ever is the one that stops right above your ankle), but I'm wearing a little taller boot (6"), so I wanted a little more padding around the ankle, and these mid-calf are much better than the full height ones.Recommendation: When I first hear about wool socks, I thought how would that work, living in Hawaii. Having done more research, and now curious to see if these wool socks can actually be comfortable, as compared to synthetics, in a warm environment.Pros: Minus33 is a dedicated sock company.Cons: Cost (higher than cheap socks, but you get what you pay for).Conclusion: At $18, rating these 5-stars.

Made in the US!!

I ordered these right at the end of winter so I was only able to wear them for 1 hike before the weather warmed up too much for a pair of socks like this so my experience with them is limited. Regardless of this these socks performed great on that hike. It was fairly cold and I wore them with a pair of minimalist barefoot shoes that are not insulated at all.I normally just buy regular ordinary socks so I am in no way a sock expert but these socks hug my feet like no other. I wear a size 13 so I ordered XL and they fit perfectly. Definitely the most comfortable socks I have ever worn and they are made in the US. I’m very happy with these socks and look forward to putting them to use next winter

Luckily, they fit me (women's size 8 shoe) perfectly so it isn't a complete waste, although I wasn't in need of new socks.I have posted pictures, including the size chart, and I hope it makes your ordering decisions easier.Bottom line, these socks are comfortable, well made in the USA, and will make a nice addition to my hiking gear. My favorite pair of hiking socks!

These socks keep your feet dry and comfortable after a long day of walking in boots. I walked over 17 miles on a mountain hike in one day and never had to change out my socks. Feet stayed dry and no blisters. Highly recommend!
