Why Merino Wool?
Moisture Wicking
Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.
Anti-Microbial
Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.
Insulates When Wet
Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.
Fire Resistant
Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.
UV Protection
Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.
Renewable
Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.
MACHINE WASH AND DRY
Total Easy Care (TEC) Merino apparel is designed for today's busy lifestyle. Total Easy Care Merino garments are all machine-washable, and are suitable for tumble drying.
Even after frequent laundering they retain an 'as new' appearance. They won't shrink, lose their shape, fade or color-bleed. They remain soft and comfortable for the life of the garment.
This is my first time getting into healthier fabric wear it was by far the best decision in my fashion lifestyle. My skin now can tell the difference between 100% merino or cotton compared to syntheic wear.

Over the past 12-ish years I've had merino hoodies from the other two brands you might be thinking of. Quality had gone downhill with the first company when I went to replace my 10-year-old hoodie, and the other one wasn't too much better. *This* hoodie, however, is what I've been wanting. The hood, as someone else has pointed out, is a hoodie-hood, not a scuba/sleestak hood, which is nice. The sleeve cuffs and thumbie were what really impressed me, though. The cuff edges are trimmed/reinforced with bias tape (possibly? I'm not remembering the term) and so are the thumbie-holes. My stuff always frays at the cuff-edges, so I'm super delighted by this. The fabric is the weight I want from a hoodie (the other merino ones I've had recent experience with are more or less shirts in hoodie form). There are other lovely things about it, I have zero negative things to say about it, it is very expensive (from my perspective), but not more so than I expect for being merino and of this quality, and it is absolutely worth it, unlike the two others I've bought from different brands in the past two years, which is a huge relief.
I'm 5'3, 115 pounds. I wear a small bottom & medium top in the base layers. I like my tops to be fitted but not tight to my body....just perfectly classic. I ordered a medium in this hoodie and it was huge...much like a large. I paid shipping to exchange it for a small. I received the small & it fits nicely through the shoulders & the sleeve length is good but still, the torso is too large. If you're looking for a cute, classic fit...this isn't it. I can't get an XS because the sleeves will be too short. Plus, I would have to pay return shipping again. The sizing of this hoodie should definitely be reconsidered so that a medium in base layer is similar to a medium in all products. Quality clothing is expensive enough without additional shipping back & forth. Also, please consider creating a more classic fit hoodie. Fit ladies like this. A small frame looks good in small clothes. On a positive note, this jacket is incredibly warm, very good quality and the inner material feels good even without a base layer.
Return was easy & shipping times reasonable.

I am 5’5” this is not hip length in a Large. More like lower hip. That is fine for me. Great fabric and style. I hunt and work/play outdoors. Love Merino wool, first purchase this year so no long term review, but really like it so far.
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We're so glad to hear that you are enjoying our Expedition Women's Kodiak Fleece Brushed Wool Hoodie. We also appreciate your feedback on the fit and length. We will definitely take that into consideration for future designs. We hope you continue to love the fabric and style as you use it for your outdoor activities. Thank you for choosing our Merino wool products.
Best,

The wool is heavy, dense, and very warm. It seems well made.
I had to return a women's medium for a large. I suggest ordering one size up if you're in the middle or high-end of a size, especially if you're tall. Ordering the 'correct' size results in a snug fit like the model photos, or even tighter, but that might not be what most people want in a hoodie.
The sleeves are short if you want to use the thumb holes, which was my main reason for going to a large. Adding an inch in the sleeves would be an improvement.
But after up-sizing, it's a very nice garment. Have not tried it in cold, but in warm weather one starts to overheat fairly quickly. Look forward to snow again.
Moolly Wammoth,
Thank you for your feedback! I really like the Kodiak Fleece Women's Brushed Wool Hoodie - Expedition! The wool is heavy and dense, and it's well made. I had to upsize to a large, and the sleeves are short if you want to use the thumb holes, but after up-sizing it's a very nice garment. I look forward to snow again!

This is a gorgeous garment. It's soft, warm, and has a great weight and feel. But the fit has been so frustrating! I am 5' 7"/145 lb and I measure exactly for a medium (37-29-39). The medium in this hoodie fits SO exactly that I can't push the sleeves up or put more than a long sleeve tee under it, and it's cut long for me (mid hip). As the other reviews said, there is very little stretch in this knit. Ultimately, I love it for the office and casual wear, but it doesn't work for layering as part of my field gear, which is why I wanted it. I think I will be ordering a men's version for that purpose. Bottom line: it's a great hoodie, but be sure of the way you want it to fit!
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a thorough review. We love getting feedback on the fit of our pieces. We will definitely be letting the product development team know about your experience!

Bought this for my partner (so she would stop borrowing mine!), and, unlike the men's version, the ash gray women's version has no hanging loop on the interior neckline. I called the company to confirm whether this was an accidental omission or a different design from the mens, and they said none of the ash gray women's hoodies have the hanging loop. It's not the end of the world, and may not matter at all to some, and the hoodie is still fantastic and very versitile in cold weather. We both wear ours down into the low 40's with just a base layer and it's plenty warm. With aerobic activity, it's comfortable well into the 30's. Interior pocket is very handy. Sleeves run a little short, even after sizing up.
I bought a size small (4-6) because it’s the smallest size available, I normally wear a size 0-2 petite 5’0 100lbs. The arms are super tight and I have very skinny arms. The thumb holes are also positioned very poorly so although my arms are shorter than normal I cannot use them. I do not like the fleece material either feels itchy, I have the kenai expedition leggings and the material is softer and much better. Two stars for the hood itself and warmth.
Cassandra,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review on the Kodiak Fleece Women's Brushed Wool Hoodie - Expedition. I'm sorry that the fit is not working for you. We are getting shipments in regularly and we are happy to get you an exchange going for a better size!
-Katie P.
I typically wear small to medium. I ordered a medium so I could layer. This felt like an extra small. It does not have much stretch like I was expecting. It is soft though. The return process was such a pain that I ended up giving it as a gift instead.
I ordered up a size to a medium and it was still too tight. The proportions seen off for athletic builds. Ordered a men’s medium, hope it’s here soon in Nov.
Thanks for the 5 star review!
-Katie P.
The jacket is nice, comfortable, the sleeves are far to Short I’m a 5’7” 140 Lady, bought a large wanting long enough sleeves, it is way off
Ginger,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We apologize for any disappointment that you may have in your Minus33 product. As always if you have any issues with any Minus33 products, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

I was looking to size up for a jacket look instead of a fitted sweatshirt. I am trying two sizes up when this is returned. We will see
I’ve worn this almost everyday since I bought it a month ago- I love this hoodie. It is so thick and warm- I stay warm when I’m out walking the dog down into the 20s with just a mid weight base layer on underneath it but I can also wear it while sitting at my desk without overheating. It is well worth the price and I’m very happy with toy purchase. It does feel like it molds to your body as another reviewer noted. I also got the Kodiak fleece neck gaiter to go with this and they work together so well to keep me warm.
The only issue I have with it is that I had to order two sizes up from my normal size. I got a large in the women’s trail breaker zip up hoodie and all my Minus33 base layers and they all fit comfortably, but I needed an XXL in this jacket to get a comfortable fit. I found the shoulders to be particularly small. Luckily I live close enough that I could do the exchange in person so it wasn’t a huge deal to try on the XL and then the XXL to find one that fit well.
Jennifer,
We are very pleased to hear that you are enjoying your Minus33 Expedition Weight Hoodie. Thank you for the great review and keep warm!

This is THE Hoody I have been searching for. Beautiful, soft, well made, heavy. Warm. And it is WOOL. It is pricy, but so warm and cozy. Perfect for every day. Thank you!
Marni,
Thanks for the great review and enjoy your Hoodie. Keep Warm!
-Melinda W.
This front zip hoodie is the warmest one I've every had. High quality construction. Totally worth the price. It's perfect for those cold and damp fall and winter days. I don't think I'll be wearing other hoodies! The hood is really warm and cinchable. I'm 5'9" and weigh 163 lbs, and I have the XL. I have long arms, and the arm length is perfect. At first, the hoodie was bit tight in the hips, but after I wore it a few times the wool has molded to my size. The hoodie is about the same dimensions as the men's size medium. Thank you Minus33 for heavyweight merino wool clothing!
Sheila,
We are happy to hear that you are staying warm wearing you Expedition Weight Aleutian Women's Hoodie. We are also pleased to hear that you like the way your hoodie fits. Keep warm!
-Melinda W.
I bought this hoodie as a birthday present for my wife. I haven’t seen her naked since. So, it was a win as a gift, but a loss on overall quality of my sex life.
She’s owned other merino hoodies in the past, and this has never happened before.
Buyer beware!
I had looked high and low for a hoodie that had enough warmth for my easily-to-get-cold body. And at long last I had found it. I've had it now for at least two years. It's so comfortable, and I like that it has an inside pocket. I only wish that the sleeves were a tad bit longer as I have pretty long arms. Oh! and I hope someday this might come in white!
I've put it through the wash loads of times, and it's holding up well. I let it air-dry.
Genevieve,
We are glad to hear you are staying warm and toasty in our Brushed Expedition Weight Hoodie. We will pass your color idea on to our Product Development Team. Thanks for the great review.
-Melinda W.
The brushed interior is really soft and the hoodie is extremely warm. I got the same hoodie in black a couple of years ago, and the one I got now fits a bit more tightly. I recommend sizing up if you prefer a looser fit.
Thanks for your review! We're glad you're loving it so far!
Hi, I‘ve ordered this hoodie about six years ago and really love it. I‘d like to get a new one as mine is falling apart, but I‘m unsure abour which size to order because of the comments. Has the fit gotten tighter? Or would size M still fit me?
Hi, thank you for leaving us a review! Nothing has changed about the garment, so a medium should still fit you. If it does not, we will be happy to do any returns and exchanges for you.
Thanks!
