How to Measure

Chest: Measure the circumference around the fullest part of your chest, underneath the arms.

Waist: Measure the circumference around the natural waist, near the belly button.

Hip: Measure the circumference around the fullest part of your hips.

Shirt Length: This measurement refers to the approximate size of the shirt back length, from the neck to the bottom hem.

Inseam: Measure from the center of the crotch to the end of the ankle.

Fits best as: Base Layer

Skin tight, slim, compression style fit. Wear this layer first and add on top of it if needed.

Fits best as: Base Layer, Mid Layer

True to size, standard fit with a little bit of room to breathe, but not too baggy. Perfect on its own or with a t-shirt or thin shirt underneath.

Fits best as: Mid Layer, Insulating Layer, Outer Layer

A little more room than you would find in a Regular fit. Enough space to fit 1-2 layers underneath.

Fit FAQs

What if I am between sizes?

If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up or down based on what fit type you would prefer, and based on how you plan to wear the piece. Our knitted merino is stretchy and you could realistically go with either size. If you would prefer an Athletic fit, size down. If you prefer a Regular or Relaxed fit, size up.

Do I need to size up/down to layer?

Generally, no, you do not need to purchase a different size than normal. Our base layers are designed to fit right into your current layering system. They are also designed to work with other products in our line, too. You may wish to adjust your sizing if you plan to wear one of our garments in a way that it is not intended, if that's the case please feel free to contact our customer service team for help.

Does your clothing run true to size?

Yes, our clothing runs true to size and is sized similar to most other American brands. If a sizing discrepancy is discovered, you will see fit advice in that product's specific listing.

Nice Jacket!

The full-zip jacket fits well, not too tight not too loose, is a nice color of deep blue and the fabric is a nice weight. While it is called heavy weight, it is a substantial and nicely dense fabric, but flexible, comfortable and not overly thick. I expect it will last many years. I prefer this over similar Ibex brand jackets that I own.

Minor quibble: I wish Minus 33 did not sew white logo tags into the exterior side seams of all its garments.If there must be a tag, maybe make it gray or black or anything other than white so it will blend in a bit?

I have had this jacket since December 4, 2023

I have had this jacket since December 4, 2023. I have washed it multiple times and worn it almost nonstop at least eight months out of the year. It looks amazing. I can’t say enough good things about this jacket. It regulates temperature whether it’s 20° or 60°. It’s like a warm hug and no matter the weather. I wear on its own and it looks great or I wear it as a layer and it doesn’t bulk up too much. I’ve lost 35 pounds and I’m looking to get another one and another size.

Awesome Merino Wool Full Zip

I am 5’10”, 12-14 size, I purchased a black XL. The jacket is the perfect weight for travel. It hangs beautifully and reads like a blazer. After Much Searching, I Found the Perfect Wool Jacket

I have had a boiled wool sweater jacket for 10 years that I have worn out. It was nice enough for every day use, great breathability and warmth for hiking, camping, skiing, and adventuring, and ability to be used as an underlayer for really cold times. It finally gave up the ghost and I despaired of finding another. I've been shopping for several years in brick and mortar stores and online. FINALLY I found the Expedition full zip jacket and it is even better than my tired old original. High quality, looks good

I'm very happy with this Wilderness full zip. It is the weight I wanted and looks great on. At 5'9, 140#, either a medium or large would work simce there is some stretch. I got the large in case I want to layer several things under it for winter hiking. The large doesn't look sloppy but if I were only putting a thin layer or 2 underneath, I'd get a medium. The torso and sleeve length are perfect. The blue is very pretty. I'm very happy with my purchase and if it wasn't so pricey, I'd get another.

Unhappy with appearance

When I tried on my black wilderness full zip cardigan, I was surprised to see that it attracted white dust particles, right out of the air! The garment was covered in white specks that I removed with a lint roller. When I shook it out, the white particles came back! Also, I am 5'3" and 130lbs, and the medium is too tight with one or two thermal layers underneath. Other than these issues, it's a very nice garment and I would not have returned it.

Very nice and soft!

We have traveled to places like South Dakota-35Fwind shield factor -53F, Alaska- Yakutat , Canada - Victoria Island Russia Moskow, and I found myself warm but sweating and very uncomfortable with bulky layers sometimes. Our next adventure will be Finland's Lapland above the arctic circle Jan 2024, I am normaly a cold person so keeping warm is my first Priority- ( originally from Pretoria, South Africa, not ised to the cold but I love it!! . Since I haven't worn it out yet, I hope to return to update this review later . I wore my baselayer for a day after I washed it, and it washed well.
It was very comfortable,could move around easily and don't feel restricted or heavy or even to bulky. Its EXTREMELY SOFT- no more scratchy baselayers. Will travel with it to Apalacian Mountains the end of the year hopefully it will be nice and cold so I can give it a pretest. I bought my husband and daughter some too, because it is so soft and comfortable.
