Beautiful hat, but color bleeds

The hat is beautiful. But if you wash it even in cold water, the red bleeds onto the white part & all else. I wouldn’t wash until you absolutely have to, and not with anything else even darkest colors.
I didn’t think the wool would bleed like that so it’s a bit disappointing since I’m giving them for gifts. The one I already had (same hat) from another website had a perfume smell so I had no choice but to wash it. The white part is now pink and that is after about six hands soaking in plain cold water to try and get the color bleeding out after initial cold wash. Now my gifts will just have to come with a warning. It’s still a nice hat though a bit huge too. You can double cuff it to offset.
