Our knitted merino is stretchy and you could realistically go with either size. If you would prefer an Athletic fit, size down. If you prefer a Regular or Relaxed fit, size up.

Do I need to size up/down to layer?

Generally, no, you do not need to purchase a different size than normal. Our base layers are designed to fit right into your current layering system. They are also designed to work with other products in our line, too. These hearty mid-layers are built to last with a double layer Ponte knit that is sure to beef up your next adventure. From early morning bushwhacks to your favorite tree stand, to long wet days in the alpine zone, and every climb, creek crossing, and dog walk in between, we’ve got you covered.

Ponte de Roma is the name of a double knitting technique that consists of two layers of fabric knitted together. Ponte fabric is tightly knitted, making it very durable. It's stretchy, soft, doesn't wrinkle, and has a naturally flattering drape, which lets these mid-layers crossover perfectly from the outdoors to the office, and everything in between.

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

Anti-Microbial

Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.

Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.

Wilderness Expedition Women's Wool 1/4 Zip

I love this layer! I ski Wildcat and roam around the Whites. Finally I am warm yet not bulky. I am tall and not petite. Thank You for making a top long enough that stays in my ski pants, no gaposis on the chair and with enough wing span so I can move with ease while active ! Not everyone out hiking , skiing and playing in the mountains is one size . The quality is great. I will be ordering more. When I find something I like and this good , I stick to it! THANK YOU!

Finally an Expedition Weight in Women's

I run cold and have wanted to replace my Expedition weight bottoms and tops for years but hadn't found a good option. First of all the top fits well - I ordered a medium and am just shy of 5'9" and about 140 pounds and a small chest. I also have skin sensitivities so only the softest cottons seem to play well with my skin. Unfortunately this isn't the softest cotton so I have to wear something underneath to protect my skin - I'm not a big sweater so it works fine for me. I think for most people there wouldn't be an issue - you lucky devils! Anyway, I've been using it for bicycle rides in the high 30s,low 40s and it's done me very well. The quality seems exceptional!
