Why Merino Wool?

Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

Anti-Microbial

Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.

Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.

Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.

UV Protection

Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.

Renewable

Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.

TOTAL EASY CARE

MACHINE WASH AND DRY

Total Easy Care (TEC) Merino apparel is designed for today's busy lifestyle. Total Easy Care Merino garments are all machine-washable, and are suitable for tumble drying.

Even after frequent laundering they retain an 'as new' appearance. They won't shrink, lose their shape, fade or color-bleed. They remain soft and comfortable for the life of the garment.

Much Better

I had ordered the midweight balaclava at first along with the midweight bottoms. I hate to say, which I already did, I don’t know what use the midweight balaclava has. This one though is actually great: very thick, very warm, hefty. It keeps it’s shape better too because of the increased thickness. It’s still a little loose from what I expect a balaclava so it still shifts around a little sometimes, but it hasn’t been much of an issue considering how warm and comfortable it is. If you want a balaclava to actually keep your face warm in freezing temperatures, this is the one you need. I don’t wear balaclavas unless it gets that cold, so maybe the midweight one just isn’t useful to me. Minus33 did contact me and let me return it for free in order to buy and exchange for the expedition weight which was great customer service. This balaclava is definitely worth it.

The Balaclava -Expedition is very warm, not heavy and not bulky at all. I like it so much.

Ridge Cuff beanie is Expedition Weight?

Wanted to promote the Minus33 Ridge Cuff beanie, it is so warm and compatible to our culture these days, everyone should have this beanie!

I would like to request Minus33 to design and release an Expedition Weight Ridge Cuff beanie, there are so many of us out here that are exposed to subzero temperatures, that we could benefit by the use of an Expedition weight beanie. I would buy multiple beanies in the Expedition weight if you had them for sale, and many of us out here in the public sector would buy them....you would sell them like hot cakes!!

Steven,

Thank you for the great review! Glad to hear how well you like our beanie. We will pass your suggestion along to our product development team. Thank you for being a Minus33 Customer.
