Fit FAQs

What if I am between sizes?

If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up or down based on what fit type you would prefer, and based on how you plan to wear the piece. Our knitted merino is stretchy and you could realistically go with either size. If you would prefer an Athletic fit, size down. If you prefer a Regular or Relaxed fit, size up.

Do I need to size up/down to layer?

Generally, no, you do not need to purchase a different size than normal. Our base layers are designed to fit right into your current layering system. They are also designed to work with other products in our line, too. You may wish to adjust your sizing if you plan to wear one of our garments in a way that it is not intended, if that's the case please feel free to contact our customer service team for help.

Does your clothing run true to size?

Yes, our clothing runs true to size and is sized similar to most other American brands. If a sizing discrepancy is discovered, you will see fit advice in that product's specific listing.

Love these leggings!

I bought a pair of midweight woolverino leggings and midweight franconia leggings in December. I liked the franconia, but I reached for the woolverinos much more often. I bought a 2nd pair in February. They are my go-to pants around the house this winter. If it's really cold out, I just slip my jeans on over them to go outside.
The woolverinos are slightly more comfortable than the franconias, and they hold their shape better.
For sizing... I was between a size L and size XL (only for my waist (ca 34in at my belly button)). For reference, I am 5'11" and weigh about 150lbs. I'm glad that I chose the L. They ard very comfortable, and XL would have been too large.
I like the little picket in the waistband too. It would be great if it went a little deeper... then a phone could fit into it.

Warm and comfortable, but too short

I ordered based on the size guide and these fit me great around the waist and thighs. Unfortunately, they are about a foot too short on the ankles and long socks still don't reach the hem. I have pretty average body dimensions so this was disappointing, and I see customers are responsible for return freight charges.

NT,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our Midweight Woolverino Women's Wool Leggings. We're glad to hear that you find them warm and comfortable. We apologize that they were too short for you. We understand how frustrating that can be, especially when ordering based on our size guide. We are constantly working to improve our products and will take your feedback into consideration. We also apologize for any inconvenience caused by the return freight charges. We appreciate your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future. If you would like to return the bottoms please contact our customer service team at 603-968-3351.

Based on suggestions I bought the medium but it was just too loose of a fit for me for running. I was expecting it to be a snug fit like athletic tights but this was loose on me. Probably should have bought my usual size small. Quality is very nice though not see through.

Very Good Customer Service

I ordered some long johns and they didn’t fit. I exchanged them for another size. Then I contacted customer service for a different size and they responded quickly with assurance that they would send the other size.
I need merino as I get cold easily. Minus 33 makes the best gloves and long johns I have found and I have tried quite a few. And, they are out of New Hampshire so they know about cold, damp weather!

Jennifer,

Thank you for your positive feedback on our Midweight Women's Woolverino Leggings. We are glad to hear that our customer service team was able to assist you with your exchange and that you are satisfied with the fit of your new size.

We take pride in providing excellent customer service and we appreciate your recognition of our efforts. We also agree that Merino wool is the best choice for keeping warm in cold weather, and we are proud to be located in New Hampshire where we understand the importance of staying warm and dry.

Thank you for choosing Minus33 for your cold weather needs. We hope to continue providing you with high-quality products and exceptional service in the future.

Stay warm,

Best,

Fabric is thick and soft.
5’6”, 142lbs and I purchased a M. Typical size 6/8 and M usually give me some room to move. These are definitely not tight and I could have gone down a size. I hope they don’t stretch out with wear, but I will keep the M and see! Also, I have longer legs (a 33” inseam), and these are right at my ankle. If you typically need tall sizes, these might be too short for you.

Great Option for Working Out in the Winter

I bought these for their versatility to be used alone or as a base layer when practicing Tai Chi outdoors or hiking / walking. I was originally looking for a base layer but then preferred these given their versatility. So far, I've used them a few times and quite happy with them. Have yet to wash them though.

QJ,

Too long

I’m surprised this hasn’t come up in the reviews. These leggings were way to long, past my ankle bone by at least two inches, and I am 5’ 7” tall. They also had a baggy fit that surprised me. I returned them.

Laurie,

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We apologize that the midweight women's woolverino leggings did not work out for you. We are happy to hear that you were helped by customer service and had a successful and easy return.

Exceptional value and performance

Half the price of Woolx and Ibex. All the quality and performance. Super soft and comfy. Wish there were more color options.

Angela,

Thanks for the review! We're glad you're happy with the product and the value it offers. We hope you'll come back to purchase more in the future!

Perfect weight, fabulous price and good fit. Legs shrunk a bit when washed, making them more like crop pants but still good. Wish there were more color options. I have Golden Retrievers and they have shed like crazy. Bare is not a great color choice for me

Not as nice as my older pair

I bought these to replace my old ones that were several years old and full of holes. I had worn them nearly constantly. Unfortunately the fit and overall quality isn’t as good as the old ones. The tops are very baggy and I need to pull them up really high but the elastic in the waistband isn’t strong enough to hold them up. The whole leg is baggy and just doesn’t fit as well as the old ones. Plus they immediately started pilling up, which my old ones never did. Still ok long underwear but the older ones are nice to wear as leggings with a skirt and the newer ones just aren’t. They are both the same size (M)

I'm sorry to hear that the quality of these leggings isn't as good as the older ones you had. We definitely want get this squared away for you. We did just send along an email to get you set up. If you prefer, give us a call at 1855-646-8733.

What I was looking for

These were exactly what I needed to my recent trip to the Arctic Circle. Already own a light weight layer by another company and was wanting a mid weight one. These were perfect and not as scratchy as other wool products I’ve tried. I’m 5’8 and length was just right.

Justine!

Good fit and plenty warm as a base layer.

These leggings were purchased to wear under other pants during colder weather. They do the job great! The fit is nice and snug so they don't bunch up, and they're plenty warm to keep you toasty in cold weather.

Wear them daily

I have many pairs of these leggings and wear them daily during our chilly months in Vermont, both at home and out under a dress. I have two complaints, they do bag in the knees a bit after a few wearing and they run quite easily. Still, their upside, being warm, lightweight and comfy, will keep me buying them!

Susan,

Superbly Warm

I love my Minus 33 midweight long sleeve, so I bought these leggings as a warmer baselayer to supplement my winter hiking pants. These things are toasty! I've worn them hiking in temps from about 14-25F, and alpine skiing in temps from 5-25F. They've performed well in both cases. I did find them a little scratchy at first, but two washes later and they're super soft and comfy. I find the fit perfect, I'm 5'7" about 145lbs. Maybe a touch short at the ankles but since I only use them as a baselayer it's fine.

Good if you are short. Not designed for tall ladies

Overall good fabric and nice flat stitches, but … I am 6 feet tall and they are way too short and sit way too low. Bigger size would be way too wide (I have L). So… if you are 5 feet tall would be perfect. Otherwise will require some workarounds

Sorry you were not satisfied with your purchase. A L is for a 30'-32' inseam. Please reach out to us directly to make a return.

Leggings!

They sure do! Thank you for your review.

Just what I wanted!

High quality merino, flat lock seams, gusseted, bottom hem is fashioned just like a legging (not like long underwear), wide waist band that sits at hips (not high-waisted), lycra to prevent bagginess, thick material (not see through). Can wear alone as leggings or as a base layer. My only complaint is that they make them only in black. I’d like charcoal gray, please!

Thank you for you review & recommendation. I will pass onto our design team.

These Leggings Are…

These Leggings Are Great! They Fit Under My Clothes Without Bunching Up And Are Warm And Just The Right Snugness Without Being Too Tight. I Bought Them To Replace My Old Minus33 Long Underwear Which Is Starting To Show Signs Of Wear After 6 Or 7 Years Of Being Worn Nearly Every Day Between October And March.

Purchased For My…

Purchased For My Wife To Use For Work In Winter Time And Also For Outdoor Adventures/Activity. The Sizing Chart Is Pretty Accurate And They Fit Her Well. She Has Only Worn Them A Few Times As Of Writing This But So Far She Loves Them. They Are Very Warm For Being So Lightweight And Very Flexible And Are Very Well Made. The High Waist Is The Only Thing She's Unsure Of Due To Her Pregnancy Being A Cesarean So It Sits Where Her Scar Is, But These Don't Bother Her As Much As A Lot Of Other Clothing. That Is More Of A Mistake On My Searching Not On The Quality/Design Of The Leggings, But Worth Noting For Anyone In The Same Situation. She Still Wears Them Happily Though And Has Already Recommended Them To Her Friends.
