How to Measure

Chest: Measure the circumference around the fullest part of your chest, underneath the arms.

Waist: Measure the circumference around the natural waist, near the belly button.

Hip: Measure the circumference around the fullest part of your hips.

Shirt Length: This measurement refers to the approximate size of the shirt back length, from the neck to the bottom hem.

Inseam: Measure from the center of the crotch to the end of the ankle.

Fits best as: Base Layer

Skin tight, slim, compression style fit. Wear this layer first and add on top of it if needed.

Fits best as: Base Layer, Mid Layer

True to size, standard fit with a little bit of room to breathe, but not too baggy. Perfect on its own or with a t-shirt or thin shirt underneath.

Fits best as: Mid Layer, Insulating Layer, Outer Layer

A little more room than you would find in a Regular fit. Enough space to fit 1-2 layers underneath.

Fit FAQs

What if I am between sizes?

If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up or down based on what fit type you would prefer, and based on how you plan to wear the piece. Our knitted merino is stretchy and you could realistically go with either size. If you would prefer an Athletic fit, size down. If you prefer a Regular or Relaxed fit, size up.

Do I need to size up/down to layer?

Generally, no, you do not need to purchase a different size than normal. Our base layers are designed to fit right into your current layering system. They are also designed to work with other products in our line, too. You may wish to adjust your sizing if you plan to wear one of our garments in a way that it is not intended, if that's the case please feel free to contact our customer service team for help.

Does your clothing run true to size?

Yes, our clothing runs true to size and is sized similar to most other American brands. If a sizing discrepancy is discovered, you will see fit advice in that product's specific listing.

Unbelievable Quality

This wool top is of unbelievable quality. It’s amazingly soft and also quite warm. One thing would make it even better though - petite sizes. I’m 5’1” and the shoulder insets don’t fit very well. Because I’m using it as a base layer, the poor fit under the arms isn’t visible and the top is still comfortable. I’d buy it again.

Not the same!

Last year I bought a Minus33 light-weight wool crew top and absolutely love it. Hence, this year I wanted to get a mid-weight wool crew top and asked for XL again. I am disappointed that this new XL is baggier (bigger) and the neck line does not cover my shoulders as well as the previous top, as it too is bigger than my first one. It is a nice top, but I feel like my neck is not nearly as warm with a larger neck line. I guess I should have ordered a regular large.

The shirt is warm and very nice, but it isn't quite what I expected.

I love this top overall

I love this top overall. I wore it hiking in 30F w a thin sweater over and stayed comfortable. The armpits are slightly baggy but I'm between a XS & S and went with the S (5.5/118lbs). I'd rather have it slightly loose than skin tight, so will keep it. The violet color is really pretty & goes nicely with black or navy leggings. My only wish is that it had thumbholes! Maybe coming soon?

Warm and great for temperature regulation. Also long enough for tall people

This shirt is very well made and it's got nice long sleeves and a long enough trunk that there's no problem reaching up and having the shirt ride up. I bought this for a cruise to Alaska, because I'm out on the deck rain or shine. I'm sure it will work wonderfully for that, but what I've discovered, is this top and the matching pants are also my favorite pajamas! I always thought of base layers as something only for colder weather, but this set helps me regulate my temperature even when I'm inside. I had some health issues last year that put me into overnight menopause, and while I'm miserable in cotton (esp at night), paradoxically, I'm able to stay cool and also stay warm in this top without sweating. This was such an unexpected bonus that I'm going to slowly move my wardrobe over from cotton to wool as I replace pieces.

Bought this for an upcoming trip (hiking) in Norway. The princess cut just skims the body, making it a great 1st layer. I usually wear a M or L, and decided on the M. Glad I did. It fits perfectly. Very soft and warm. Can’t wait to wear it.
