Benefits of Merino Wool
I wore this as a base layer under a dress shirt for a round-trip ski journey from NJ to Switzerland, involving flights, multiple train connections, and a long walk to the hotel. At every stage, it was perfect—soft, thin, and with an ideal sleeve and tail length.
The temperature regulation is impressive. Zipped up, it kept me warm; zipped down, it cooled me instantly to "meet the moment." It didn't retain much sweat, and what it did catch dried almost immediately. The real test was the trip home: a blizzard had dumped 8 inches of snow, taxis weren't running, and we had to haul a 50lb ski bag by its handles for a mile to the station, in addition to the luggage on our backs. I wore only this layer, a dress shirt, and a soft-shell vest. By the time we reached the train, I was bone dry and very comfortable waiting on the train platform in the snow.
After three more train transfers, check in, and the flight back, I landed in 70-degree NJ weather. I ditched the vest, went through immigration, baggage claim, and waited in full sun for my ride; I didn't break a single bead of sweat. The light grey color is versatile and looks sharp and clean. My only minor note is that the collar doesn't stand on its own when unzipped, but if you’re wearing it under a collared shirt, it rests perfectly for a dressy look. I only wish they made this exact weight in a non-zip version for layering while skiing!
Wore it everyday on my Alaskan cruise and it kept me warm and it never smelled.

Bought this for backpacking 4 days in the grand canyon. This was perfect for keeping my cool in 90F+ heat while also being odor resistant. The sizing was a bit tough. Im usually both a S/M but this ran larger so I had to return the size S and order a size M.

During the winter I purchased a midweight Marino wool quarter zip for skiing. It came in very handy this cold winter and I loved it. Love the fit and the warmth! So I tried the micro weight quarter zip for the spring warmer weather. At first, I thought it was a little long, but I soon changed my mind and have been wearing it regularly! It is definitely micro weight but surprisingly warm and well crafted. I love Minus33!
Hey Greg!

We hope it continues to serve you well during the spring weather. Thank you for choosing Minus33, appreciate your support.

I bought two, the hoodie and the regular 3/4 zip. Good fit and function, but I really hate the collar. The zipper comes up too high and there're really no practical way to leave it partially unzipped. It stands up and waves like a flag if it's not zipped. I may look into things like velcro stays or even shortening the zipper to make it more comfortable.
Hi Sam! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We're glad to hear that you like the fit and function of our Micro Weight - Men's Wool 1/4 Zip Woolverino. We understand your concerns about the collar and we appreciate your feedback. We'll definitely take it into consideration for future designs. In the meantime, some customers have found success using velcro stays to keep the collar down or shortening the zipper for a more comfortable fit. We hope this helps! Thank you for choosing our product.
Have a good day

For those who sleep with minimal covers and don't need the heaviest coat, this is the choice. I purchased these for 2 of my "warm body" adult sons, and they are perfect for base layer. Wool, but comfortable and not over heating them
Kathryn,

Thank you for supporting Minus33!

I love my Woolverino not only for hiking but casual wear but you have to treat them gently. The underside of my forearms on both sleeves wore right through in a year. This time I’m not going to put them in the dryer and see if that makes a difference.Minus33 has great merino, but merino must be treated gently. It’s well worth the extra attention.
Mark,

Robin,
Thank you for the fantastic review!

Great layer for bike commute and bike touring- the zip is key for being able to manage your temperature. Not super warm by itself but that’s not what it’s for. I bike commute 5 days a week, including a serious climb, and it’s not smelly at all by Friday.
My husband loves his!
Carrie,
Thank you for the great review! We hope your husband stays comfy while wearing his Minus33 1/4 Zip.

Quickly becoming my favorite piece. I am 5'10, 225 and xl fits great. I like that it is not skin tight and will be worn all year. After wearing minus33 it is hard to put wear anything else

I love 1/4 zips and this one rocks! It fits great (I'm 5' 9", 150 lbs, size Med.). The only thing I would add to this design is thumb holes.

The size is a great fit. The weight of the Woolverino Micro wool is awesome- vey light and functional. This can be worn all year long, great for those cool morning rides and as it warms up just open it up a bit and I am fine. An awesome base layer that I take everywhere with me. If you do any type of activities outdoors you need this top.

I'm a regular back country skier and mountain biker in the Adirondacks. I don't leave home with out my Minus33 1/4 Zip. I own several of them. Just last week I was mountain biking on the Barkeater Trails when I got caught in a 45deg rain. No worries, I had my 1/4 zip on. The soft merino wool is 2nd to none. It will keep you warm even when wet. It's also light enough to breath. And not to get too personal, it doesn't smell like synthetics. I also have very fair Irish skin. All my Irish sweaters are too itchy for me to wear. The Merino Wool from Minus33 doesn't itch at all.
Great for fall and spring!
