How to Measure

Chest: Measure the circumference around the fullest part of your chest, underneath the arms.

Waist: Measure the circumference around the natural waist, near the belly button.

Sleeve: Measure from your center back neck, to the elbow, to the wrist.

Shirt Length: This measurement refers to the approximate size of the shirt back length, from the neck to the bottom hem.

Inseam: Measure from the center of the crotch to the end of the ankle.

Skin tight, slim, compression style fit. Wear this layer first and add on top of it if needed.

Fits best as: Base Layer, Mid Layer

True to size, standard fit with a little bit of room to breathe, but not too baggy. Perfect on its own or with a t-shirt or thin shirt underneath.

Fits best as: Mid Layer, Insulating Layer, Outer Layer

A little more room than you would find in a Regular fit. Enough space to fit 1-2 layers underneath.

Fit FAQs

What if I am between sizes?

If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up or down based on what fit type you would prefer, and based on how you plan to wear the piece. Our knitted merino is stretchy and you could realistically go with either size. If you would prefer an Athletic fit, size down. If you prefer a Regular or Relaxed fit, size up.

Do I need to size up/down to layer?

Generally, no, you do not need to purchase a different size than normal. Our base layers are designed to fit right into your current layering system. They are also designed to work with other products in our line, too. You may wish to adjust your sizing if you plan to wear one of our garments in a way that it is not intended, if that's the case please feel free to contact our customer service team for help.

Does your clothing run true to size?

Yes, our clothing runs true to size and is sized similar to most other American brands. If a sizing discrepancy is discovered, you will see fit advice in that product's specific listing.

I like the shirt, but I’m very disappointed that it’s made in Vietnam. I thought it was made in the states.

I don't enjoy writing bad reviews but I consider purchases of this price worthwhile of discussion and criticism.

The fabric itself is soft compared to some brands but not exceptionally so. I believe this softness is due to the fabric being blended with polyester, which obviously makes this cheaper to manufacture. Considering this also comes from China i believe this is priced too high.

The shirt weighs 34.4 oz but doesn't feel thicker, heavier or warmer than other wool shirts that I've bought which weigh close to 10 ounces less. I'm not sure how that's possible but this material feels thin and less durable than other 100% wool options. 80% of it's weight is 27.52 ounces of wool.

I really was looking forward to a heavy thick shirt but I didn't receive that. If this item was 44 ounces maybe it would've met expectations.

Aside from that it's a nice slightly less itchy wool shirt. Wouldn't recommend this purchase to my friends over buying some vintage filson or stormy kromer on ebay.

Heavy, Soft Wool Shirt

Wore this as insulating layer in cold weather on forestry projects. Warm and is softer than comparable wool shirts. It provides room to layer underneath. In washer on delicate cold, flat dried, looks good didn’t shrink that I noticed. Seemed washing made it softer. Lining in collar is a plus. Good practical cold weather work shirt for me.

Favorite casual jacket

The wool quality of this shirt is perfect for being a stand in for a jacket. I normally wear a large, but ordered this XL so I could wear it over other clothing as a jacket. I believe this garnet will last for many years. I ordered the grey version so it could be a business casual jacket when I travel, but I now want the plaid version for camping and fishing.

Very soft wool

I have used wool products my whole life and I have a practice of ordering a size up, washing it in hot water, and drying it on hot to thicken up and soften the fabric. Crazy I know. It takes some practice and care. I tried my method on this shirt and it worked perfectly. The wool is a very fine quality and super soft. This is definitely my new favorite winter shirt. I think the price point is very good for a shirt of this quality.

Great shirt

I love this shirt.
Yes. It runs big, I'm normally XL, bought the large, and it is just right. Still a little room in it.

What I really like about this compared to other shirts that I have similar to this are the extra button on the cuff, the button on the open area above the cuff, and the lining around the collar and inside those cuffs.

This is a great design. Please don't change anything other than maybe sew it in USA.

The wool quality is very good, and does not itch. I washed it as per instructions, and it did not shrink.

Great shirt, but sizes are big.

Ok, the pros first. The shirt itself is what you expect from Minus33, great quality, warm, and appears to be a great shirt for cool days or a mid layer for when it get really cold. Stitching looks very good and robust, appears to be good for either tucked or untucked. The main con of this shirt is the design. It's built like a square sack with holes or for someone who has an enormous belly and fat arms. I am 6'3" and weight about 260lbs, but have an athletic build. I bought the XXL, which is my normal size with Minus33 shirts and vests, and they fit very well because of the athletic cut design. This shirt fit me in the shoulders very nice, but the rest of the shirt was incredibly big on me and loose (which is saying something, trust me...lol). A little loose is good, but this was quite billowy, and if I lept off a roof I think it might have doubled as a parachute! I did speak with Minus33 and their customer service was fantastic as always. They explained it is a new product and they are taking feedback, and offered to return it or exchange for a size down. Here is the final word on it though...I was afraid to go down a size because the shoulders fit great on the XXL, and I thought the XL would likely be too tight there. I told them I was keeping it, and paid out of pocket to have alterations to it to fit me correctly. That says a lot, at least to me. All in all I still give the shirt itself a 4/5 just because once it fit right it was really good. I wish the inside was made of a bit more softer merino (if that's possible?), but my only real chief complaint was the design. If they made it more of an athletic cut, it would be great.

That being said i also have a 42" chest but i'm on the shorter side and i've found that I prefer the fit of the medium, while only wearing one midweight long sleeve underneath.
