Benefits of Merino Wool
Moisture Wicking
Merino wool is the best fiber to regulate moisture. It does this by absorbing sweat from your skin and releasing it into the air. Whether you're hiking, running, biking, on the job, or just relaxing at home, our wool helps keep you dry and comfortable all day long.
Soft & Comfortable
Merino wool fibers are much finer than traditional wool, creating a luxuriously soft feel that won’t itch or irritate your skin. Comfortable enough for everyday wear and gentle enough for sensitive skin, it’s a natural choice for underwear, base layers and next-to-skin comfort.
Highly Breathable
Merino wool’s unique structure allows air to circulate freely, helping to regulate your body temperature in both hot and cold weather conditions. Whether you're layering up for winter or staying cool in summer, Merino keeps you comfortable by letting your skin breathe.
Anti-Microbial
Merino wool naturally resists odor-causing bacteria, keeping you fresher for longer. No lingering smells, even after extended wear. Perfect for travel, outdoor adventures, and everyday life.
Insulates When Wet
Merino wool can hold up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy against the skin. Unlike cotton or synthetic fabrics, it keeps insulating when damp, making it a smart choice for unpredictable weather and high-output activity.
Fire Resistant
Merino wool is naturally fire-resistant and self-extinguishing. It will not melt or stick to your skin like synthetic fabrics. A trusted option for first responders, campfire safety, or any high-heat environment.
UV Protection
Our Merino wool clothing helps protect you from the sun’s harmful rays, with different levels of UPF based on fabric weight:
-
Microweight (145 GSM): UPF 20
-
Lightweight (170 GSM): UPF 25
-
Midweight (245 GSM): UPF 50+
-
Heavyweight (400 GSM): UPF 50+
These natural UV-blocking properties make Merino wool ideal for long days or the beach or above treeline.
Renewable and Sustainable
Merino wool is a natural, biodegradable fiber with a low environmental footprint. Grown by Australian Merino sheep and shorn seasonally, it is a renewable material that supports responsible farming practices.

why merino wool
Moisture Wicking
Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.
Anti-Microbial
Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.
Insulates When Wet
Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.
Fire Resistant
Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.
UV Protection
Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.
Renewable
Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.
MACHINE WASH AND DRY
Total Easy Care (TEC) Merino apparel is designed for today's busy lifestyle. Total Easy Care Merino garments are all machine-washable, and are suitable for tumble drying.
Even after frequent laundering they retain an 'as new' appearance. They won't shrink, lose their shape, fade or color-bleed. They remain soft and comfortable for the life of the garment.

The headband doesn’t lay smooth. It moves up and makes my hair bunch up. I won’t be wearing it.

Not itchy! I have 2 of these and love hiking in them. Most headbands are too tight, or itchy. I can wear this for 7+ hours and not even notice. The weight keeps my ears warm in sub-zero temps.
Great Running Headband
Warm enough for winter but clearly light enough to wear in all weather. Moisture wicking and dries quick. Orange is perfect for high vis.
The fit is snug and it feels like my head is getting a hug!! I also love the two color combo blaze orange and black!
Comfortable at all temperatures. It’s June & I’m wearing my new medium weight base-layer top. Will be perfect for the cool Scandinavian summer, by itself our under a raincoat.
Hi Sharon! Thank you so much for leaving a review for our Midweight - Reversible Headband. We're thrilled to hear that you find it soft and comfortable for you, regardless of the temperature. We appreciate your support and hope you continue to enjoy your headband. Stay cozy!
I wanted to try this brand instead of Smartwool's 100% merino headband to support a smaller business. It's soft, warm, and I like that it's reversible. However the edges are way too tight. I have an average to smaller sized head, yet the indents on my forehead from the tight band last for 6-8 hours after I wear it. Unfortunately can't return it now, but I won't be using it very much.
Sarah,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We apologize that our Midweight Reversible Headband did not fit well for your head size. We strive to provide products that cater to a wide range of head sizes, but we understand that not every product is a perfect fit for everyone. We appreciate your support for our small business and we will take note of your feedback for future improvements. If you have any further concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you again for your support!

Brought this for a gift for my wife. We tested out in an a 19 degree windy day in Maine. Wicks moisture keeps your ears warm, and is "the best headband I have ever had."

This is the second one I purchased as I was wanting another color option. I really like how this headband fits. It stays snug against my ears even when I have on sunglasses and my Shokz earbuds. Being reversible it gives you two color options in one product which is a definite plus. It is lightweight but warm. If you wear this for extended periods of time you may have a mark across your forehead from the elastic. A small price to pay to keep it snug against your ears. Well worth the money and very good quality. The original one I purchased is over a year old and has held up very well.
It's a very nice, very soft piece of wool. But, like other reviewers have mentioned, the tag is sewn into the seam in a way that makes it reversible only after you do some surgery to remove the tag. I cut it as close as I could and it still leaves a nice noticeable piece of white tag on dark green wool and it looks like **** to be honest. I used a blade tho and very carefully scraped at the rest of the tag in the little fold of the material. As little pieces of the tag would splinter off, I'd tear it out with my fingers and after a while I got it all out and didn't harm the beanie. Despite all that, on one side there is still a little over an inch where the seam is sewn sticking out while the rest looks normal. It's not a huge deal but it's such an easy fix. The piece of suede at the bottom with the logo on it creates a gap that could easily hold a skinny, circular piece of plastic with the tag attached. Then the consumer could simply snip that and remove everything at once. They could then sew it normal all the way around and it would be truly reversible with no problems. Just saying. Also, I can wear it while I'm active but if I'm just chillin I start to notice that the bottom part is a little tight on my forehead and then I want to take it off. My forehead is 22-1/2 circumference btw.
Charles,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our Midweight Reversible Headband. We're glad to hear that you like the softness of the wool, but we apologize for the inconvenience with the tag placement. We will definitely take your feedback into consideration for future designs. We're also sorry to hear that the fit is a bit tight for you when you're not active. If you'd like, we can offer some suggestions for alternative products that may be more comfortable for you. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us for any further assistance. Thank you again for your feedback, we truly appreciate it.

The fabric is beautiful and warm, but there is what feels like an elastic sewn into the seams that ends up digging deep into my forehead. If I wear this for more than 10 minutes I have a huge wrinkle from the edge in my forehead after. Not great!
I have a little head 7 1/8 or so, this head band is just too tight, I originally got it to fit under helmets because it looked low profile. I am working on stretching it out. It is warm though and definitely thin enough for helmets if you need a little extra warmth.
Jesse,
Thank you for your feedback on our Midweight Reversible Headband. We apologize that it is too tight for your head. We're happy to hear that you still find it to be warm and low profile, making it great for wearing under helmets.
Thank you for your support!

Beautifully soft fabric, but boy, was it painfully tight, and I don’t have a big head. I washed it and dried it stretched between two bars, then it was too loose. I wet it again, and it bounced back. It’s still tighter than I’d prefer, but this way no wind is getting in, that’s for sure!
There's a bit of a squeeze for me, but not enough to hurt. I love the colors and the warmth. Next time I'm layering four layers of head gear, this will be on the bottom.
Estallia,
Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you're enjoying the headband and appreciate your honest feedback.
Best,
-Steven D
The "100% MERINO WOOL REVERSIBLE HEADBAND MIDWEIGHT" is a great product. Fits great and is perfect for tackling the chilly morning runs. Thanks Minus33!

I love these headbands, they’re so versatile and my go to for winter runs! I also Love them on hikes when I want to let my head vent but need to keep my ears warm. Highly recommend!

My favorite! Not to tight and not to loose! Perfect
I love the properties of merino wool, but some of it (from other manufacturers) makes me itchy. This headband does not. I found it warm enough for winter runs in the 20s (F). My one critique is that it's a bit too wide, but not so wide that it can still cover my ears if I fold it in half. It would be perfect if it were about 2/3 its current width. That's a small quibble, though. It's great.
What a great headband. Soft and comfortable, covers my ears and stays in place on hikes. Perfect alternative to the beanie I got. The stretch is perfect, keeps it in place while not squeezing my head too much. Aside from function the colors are great and I like the look!
Thank you Robert for the review!
I got one from a local store last year, was in a hurry to find anything and grabbed one of these! Loved it so much I went back to get more, but couldn’t find any in stock. I got on here and ordered 3 more! I work outside and these headbands keep my ears warm and cover a good amount of my head and are nice and light but allows me to have my hair (that’s past my behind) up in a bun!!
Thank you for your review! We're glad you're loving it so far!
Crazy light & Crazy warm. I hunt in South Dakota every winter. The Best headband/earmuff I got & I gotta bunch of 'em. Excellent product. Thanx.
Oh boy if you love this then check out our Neck Gaiters! They'll keep your neck just as cozy as your head!
I have 3 and got 2 more for Christmas gifts
I am sure they will love them too! Thank you for your review.
I Have 2 Of These And They Do The Job Well. However, They Are Very Tight On My Big Head. I’ll Probably Give The Second One To My Wife Since Hers Fits Fine. Good Quality But Run Small.
Absolutely Love These Headbands And All Products From Minus 33. Wife Endured Some Touring In Super Cold Weather Wearing Her Heavyweight Baselayer. Running With The Headbands Is Awesome By Keeping Us Warm Yet Breathable.
