Waist: Measure the circumference around the natural waist, near the belly button.

What if I am between sizes?

If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up or down based on what fit type you would prefer, and based on how you plan to wear the piece. Our knitted merino is stretchy and you could realistically go with either size. If you would prefer an Athletic fit, size down. If you prefer a Regular or Relaxed fit, size up.

Do I need to size up/down to layer?

Generally, no, you do not need to purchase a different size than normal. Our base layers are designed to fit right into your current layering system. They are also designed to work with other products in our line, too. You may wish to adjust your sizing if you plan to wear one of our garments in a way that it is not intended, if that's the case please feel free to contact our customer service team for help.

These hearty mid-layers are built to last with a double layer Ponte knit that is sure to beef up your next adventure. From early morning bushwhacks to your favorite tree stand, to long wet days in the alpine zone, and every climb, creek crossing, and dog walk in between, we’ve got you covered.

Ponte de Roma is the name of a double knitting technique that consists of two layers of fabric knitted together. Ponte fabric is tightly knitted, making it very durable. It's stretchy, soft, doesn't wrinkle, and has a naturally flattering drape, which lets these mid-layers crossover perfectly from the outdoors to the office, and everything in between.

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

This quality wool vest is perfect as a snowshoe layer or a cozy addition to a cool house. The medium fit my curvaceous 147 lb figure. Thus far, it shows no sign of pulling. I wish there were more colors.

This vest is excellent. The fit is flattering, the material is light but substantial. My office is freezing so I’ve been wearing this frequently. I really like the large pockets. I have to carry 2 cell phones and they fit great in the pockets without bulging in any way. Whatever you put in there hangs nicely. True to size, no itch, great product.

Mostly awesome

This vest is great. (OK--I'm not a extreme hiker, but I have always felt vests are great in general, more flexibility when cooking, washing hands, diaper changes & working w/o an extra layer of sleeves getting in way or thick sweater sleeves that keep sliding down) Plastic (fleece, etc) holds in my sweat & often smells funny to me. This is long enough to cover my base-layer wools & other shirts. But I'm wearing this around the house. Wish the collar laid flat & was just a bit looser at torso for a 'mom-bod'. Has washed great. Would love to have this in a (non-heathered) light & neutral color (tan/khaki/light peat), for spring. Although the navy color looks tempting.

We also think this vest is great! Thank you for the feedback on the fit.

Good quality 100% merino wool and well made. The only complaint I have is that it doesn't come in size XXXL, the XXL which I have although stretchy, is tight in my hips so the vest rides up and I have to constantly pull it down.

My wife really likes this vest. Fit was good except in shoulder area where shoulder opening did not lay flat. Ends stuck out like bat ears. Wife made an adjustment to material that resolved the issue.

light and warm

I bought this in blue and love the color. This is warm, has pockets and is thin enough to fit under a jacket. I'm usually a M but bought the large to accommodate layers. Fits just right. It would be even better if it came in a shorter length. Would love Minus 33 to make a petite line for tops and bottoms.

I wore this vest last season and bought a second one in a different color for the coming winter. Absolutely no pilling or wear after using it for hiking, wearing to the office, adding a good-looking layer to a dressy blouse. Front zip for easy temperature adjustment, zippered pockets for phone or keys.. Stretchy but substantial, not confining at all. Best merino product I've ever worn.

Just Great Vest

Nice slender fit. Although formfitting, my phone doesn't protrude much from the pocket. Plus, what I consider a secret benefit; the inside of the pocket can secretly store, money, passport, credit cards, anything flat. Easy to wash and tumble dry without shrinking. Comes out like new. OK

On the fence…

I’m 5’6”, 128lbs, 36-29-39 and I got a medium. The style, quality, and weight makes me love this vest. However, while the torso is a perfect fit and very flattering, the arm holes stick out to the sides because I’m smaller on top. A more hourglass figure would fill this out just fine, but pear shapes may need a tailor. Hmmm.
