Fit FAQs

What if I am between sizes?

If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up or down based on what fit type you would prefer, and based on how you plan to wear the piece. Our knitted merino is stretchy and you could realistically go with either size. If you would prefer an Athletic fit, size down. If you prefer a Regular or Relaxed fit, size up.

Do I need to size up/down to layer?

Generally, no, you do not need to purchase a different size than normal. Our base layers are designed to fit right into your current layering system. They are also designed to work with other products in our line, too. You may wish to adjust your sizing if you plan to wear one of our garments in a way that it is not intended, if that's the case please feel free to contact our customer service team for help.

Does your clothing run true to size?

Yes, our clothing runs true to size and is sized similar to most other American brands. If a sizing discrepancy is discovered, you will see fit advice in that product's specific listing.

Learn About Layering

Why Merino Wool?

Moisture Wicking

Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere.

Anti-Microbial

Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away, so foot fungus and smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing our products.

Insulates When Wet

Wool will absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling wet or clammy. If you do get wet, wool will insulate you better than cotton or polyester materials.

Fire Resistant

Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do.

UV Protection

Don’t worry about sunburn on a sunny day summiting a peak. Lightweight layers have a UPF rating of 25. Midweight and Expedition have a UPF rating of 50+.

Renewable

Merino Wool has a low environmental footprint and naturally returns to the elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they’re happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season’s clip.

TOTAL EASY CARE

MACHINE WASH AND DRY

Total Easy Care (TEC) Merino apparel is designed for today's busy lifestyle. Total Easy Care Merino garments are all machine-washable, and are suitable for tumble drying.

Even after frequent laundering they retain an 'as new' appearance. They won't shrink, lose their shape, fade or color-bleed. They remain soft and comfortable for the life of the garment.

Leggings are lightweight and comfortable

I enjoy the leggings for under my knee brace. They are light for summer hiking at higher altitudes and comfortable under the brace. Also, Minus 33 was very helpful when my original order wasn't available. The communication was excellent.

real merino wool leggings

These are called medium weight. I'm surprised at how much fabric is really there. They feel protective and durable. Thanks!

Christine,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a great review! The weight and knit of these bottoms are what give them the extra durability even though they are on the lighter side of our spectrum. At the weight of 170 g/m2, along with the Lightweight Jersey Knit, these bottoms are great if your looking for something light but also durable and protective.

Kept its shape and kept me warm

True to size, these bottoms kept my legs warm under my poncho despite the 50F weather and heavy drizzle of rain for a 4-5 hour hike. My legs were soaked from mid-thigh down by the end, but the fabric was still comfortable and didn't feel clammy. Great product, very comfortable, kept its shape with no bagging or sagging.

Amy,

Thank for the Great review! We are happy to hear that our bottoms kept your legs toasty and warm even after the drizzling rain. Happy hiking!
